The Beauty Complex - One Reason Why Women Hate Each Other

Came across this article on SingleBlackMale.org & found some valid points. Shouts to streetztalk:

What’s good everyone,
So Dr J. dropped some food for thought last Tuesday when he wrote about women who do not get along. I read all the comments and tried to assess if I felt the same way. Now, while I think some women cannot coexist with others from their gender, I do know there’s an inherent hate amongst females for different reasons. I didn’t know at the time how to articulate my point, but then I had an epiphany I need to goto Tiffanys when I watched the Wale Diary video:

If you notice the comments on the video, people (mainly women) are applauding Wale for “having an average chick in the video instead of an exotic one”. This was a direct backlash at Wale’s Pretty Girls video where non-lightskinned women felt all the females displayed were of the same persuasion (light skin, long hair, etc). Watching this situation unfold, I had a few comments:

1) I wonder what shorty thinks about being called “average” - I saw the video, and I think she’s pretty, and to me that’s not average (unless you’re around beautiful women 24/7 and even then…). When I think average, I think of a regular chick not too much beauty, not too much personality, just…average. I don’t know the young women in the video “like that”, but on looks alone, to call her “average” is a bit egregious. Why would women consider her average? Then it dawned on me...

2) Women associate certain features to be beautiful/exotic -- I’ll let Peyso/Young Dos Equis(I’m not typing that log arse username out) tell it regarding societal influence on what people perceive as “beautiful”. Kanye West in the December 2006 issue of Essence Magazine is quoted as saying, “If it wasn’t for race mixing there’d be no video girls. Me and most of our friends like mutts a lot. Yeah, in the hood they call ‘em mutts.” <-- This is a problem. However, I find it funny that women who argue that all shades/forms of beauty aren’t represented in videos, consider a woman who isn’t of the light skin long/curly hair, South American resembling persuasion, average. You know I’m a computer scientist, so my Modus Ponens logic tells me that you consider these women “above average” or “more beautiful/pretty than the “average”, which would represent the “normal” woman.

This is a HUGE problem. This is deeper than preferences. This automatic assumption in many cases lead to that initial hate that females harbor towards one another. This is not race specific either. Women of all races would consider a beautiful women outside of their race/nationality/skin tone “exotic”, and more than likely the men of their race would consider them exotic as well. Is this the reason for that hate? Do women feel threatened by “outsiders” who are coveted by “their men”, and get upset when these ‘exotic” women are glamourized and admired?

Furthermore, if you consider a woman that looks like you, or who closely resembles women “in your class” average, that exemplifies a lack of self esteem. It shows me that you automatically assume that you are “OK”. You are the underdog. I don’t know about you, but my parents raised me to be extraordinary, not ordinary. I always strive to be better than “average”. I damn near got @ss whoopings if I ever walked into my house with “average” grades which never happened till some college semesters, so I was instilled with a drive to be better. Some women may state that they don’t think they’re average, but if your instinct compels you to consider women who look like you “average”, then there’s an embedded sense of mediocrity which is causing you to hate your fellow heroine in the struggle.

Men get roasted constantly for their preferences. We get told society is brainwashing us to believe that certain women are more beautiful than others. My problem arises when these same women are subliminally agreeing with this notion with comments like “I’m glad an average woman is representing in this video”. If you aren’t part of the solution, you’re part of the problem! on another note, if a man isn’t attracted to you, that doesn’ diminish your level of attractiveness or beauty. I know dudes who think certain modelling/famous beauties are “average” to them. You cant control a dude’s tastes. unless you have glaring deficiencies, and good friends to tell you this, you need not worry about preferences. Halle Berry is above average to me and look at how all some of her love stories ended…

I know, this don’t apply to you because “you look better than that Wale video chick anyway”? You Right...

Inception A Copycat???

Ok, so this is way eerie -- in a similarity that could almost be likened to the idea theft at the center of Christopher Nolan's "Inception," the clever boys at WWTDD (via) noticed that the plot of this summer's most talked about blockbuster bares a striking resemblance to the storyline in a 2002 Scrooge McDuck comic, titled "The Dream of a Lifetime."

In the comic, criminals break into Scrooge's mind while he sleeps to steal his secrets as the dreamworld around both Mr. McDuck and Donald keeps altering itself. Hell, even the drawn device closely resembles the one Leonardo DiCaprio's team employs.

Here's a link to the full comic:

R.E.A.L - Dippin Thru The City lights

Roc City New York..Stand Up!! Shouts to L.A.V.A. and Volatile

The Infamous Pulled Lebron Article From ESPN

A Kid In King James' Court

Arash Markazi partied with LeBron James in Vegas and discovered a childlike

LeBron James relishes being the center of attention, especially in
Vegas at his own party.

LeBron James leans against a waist-high stone wall with a 16-foot-tall Buddha hovering over
him.

He's at Tao, a bustling restaurant and nightclub inside the Venetian hotel in Las Vegas, and his
arms are crossed as he listens to Lynn Meritt, senior director of Nike Basketball, and Charles
Denson, president of Nike Brand.

James is quiet, occasionally applying Chap Stick on his lips and nodding when he hears
something he likes.

BEHIND THE VELVET ROPE

Five security guards are stationed around him, one at each corner of the table he's about to sit
at and another roving around with him, watching his every move. Anyone who takes two steps
toward James is stopped and must have James' approval to come closer.

The waiter bringing him his cup of green tea with a spoonful of honey and a dash of lemon juice
makes the cut, as does the scantily clad brunette with a tattoo of a heart on her right shoulder.
She wants to take a picture with him. "I can't right now," says James. "Maybe later, upstairs, I'll
remember you're the one with the tattoo."

James will host a party later in the upstairs nightclub at Tao, but he is currently hosting a dinner
for his friends and family in the downstairs restaurant. Wearing a gray striped shirt and gold
crucifix around his neck, he bobs his head to music played by an amped-up saxophonist who
weaves his way around the table like a one-man mariachi band.

I have somehow found myself at this exclusive table, seated beside Eddie Jackson, who is
introduced to me as James' father (though he actually began dating James' mother, Gloria, after
LeBron was born and the two are no longer together). Jackson, wearing a muscle shirt
accentuating his large biceps, looks like a member of James' four-man entourage, like one of his
childhood friends.

James' circle includes Randy Mims, seated to his right at the center of the table, Maverick
Carter, seated at the head of the table, and Richard Paul, seated in front of James. The quartet
makes up the initials behind LRMR Marketing, the management firm James founded almost four
years ago with his buddies. Their offices in downtown Cleveland gained notoriety this month as
the location teams flocked to for their meetings with James.

Seated to the right of James is Chris Paul, whose brother, C.J., is seated across from him. The
New Orleans Hornets point guard has seen how James has positioned himself to win a
championship by signing with the Miami Heat and joining forces with Dwyane Wade and Chris
Bosh and has reportedly considered a similar move himself.

The truth is, in James' dream world, the duo he would love to play with for the next decade
would be Wade and Paul, his two closest friends in the NBA. Paul has been like a brother to
James since the two were in Las Vegas four years ago for USA Basketball training camp, when
as a rookie he carried James' and Wade's bags to and from the team bus.

James and Paul are fairly quiet at the center of the table as they take in the scene around them.
As family style plates of miso-glazed Chilean sea bass and crispy lobster and shrimp dumplings
are brought to the table, James effortlessly picks up the food with his chopsticks and
occasionally raises his cup of green tea to passersby as they raise their martinis and mojitos in
his direction before being helped along by security guards.

When trays of dessert plates are brought over, James gets up, preferring to start his party
upstairs instead of indulging in the giant fortune cookies and chocolate cake. A security guard
comes over and puts plastic wristbands on our wrists and escorts us through the back of the
restaurant, up a flight of stairs in the bowels of the hotel and through a back entrance into the
club. About a dozen security guards, moving their flash lights, direct us to a roped off section on
the dance floor of Tao next to a couple of apparently nude women in a bathtub full of water and
rose petals.

James, now wearing sunglasses in the dark club, immediately stands up on the couch and folds
his arms high on his chest and nods his head. He smiles as he looks at the dozens of people
crowded on the dance floor. Noticing him, they stop dancing and snap pictures as the DJ
screams out, "LeBron James in the building!" and plays LMFAO's "I'm in Miami."

Carter, LeBron's childhood friend and manager, begins dancing around James like Puff Daddy in
a Notorious B.I.G video. A giant red crown-shaped cake is brought over to James while go-go
dancers dressed in skimpy red and black outfits raise four lettered placards that spell out,
"KING." Carter grabs a bottle of Grey Goose and pours a quarter of it on the floor and raises it
up before passing it off.

James' infamous one-hour special, "The Decision," was reportedly the brainchild of Carter, a 28-
year-old who has never managed anyone outside of his friend James. This three-day party
marathon in Vegas (which James is being paid six figures to host) is also Carter's idea.

Bottle after bottle of "Ace of Spades" champagne is delivered to the table by a waiter flying
down from above the dance floor like some overgrown Peter Pan on a wire. One time he's
dressed like a King, another time as Indiana Jones and another in a replica of James' No. 6
Miami Heat jersey.

James, who can hardly see the flying figure through his tinted glasses, almost gets kicked in the
head on the waiter's last trip down. He looks at the girls around him and says, "I wish they'd
have one of these girls with no panties do that instead of the guy."

Toward the end of the night, Boston Celtics forward Glen Davis walks past James' party and
looks at the scene up and down several times like a painting in a museum, soaking in the
images of the go-go dancers, the "King" sign and the costumed man delivering bottles of
champagne.

Davis shakes his head and walks on.

James dances on the couch and sings along with the music blaring from speakers all around
him.

The more you hang around James, the more you realize he's still a child wrapped in a 6-foot-8,
250-pound frame. The night after the party at Tao, he and his crew walk through the casino at
the Wynn and Encore and he pretends to dribble a basketball as he walks past ringing slot
machines and tourists who do double-takes. In a Nike T-shirt, jeans and sneakers, James'
pantomime seems unconscious. He stops every few feet to shoot a jump shot, his right hand
extended above his head on the follow through. He weaves through a pack of a dozen friends
and pretends to connect on a layup as he walks past a gift shop. He passes overhead casino
signs and jumps up and slaps them, pretending to dunk. Columns covered with advertisements
for lounge acts become stationary defenders, chumps to fake out before connecting on
imaginary mid-range jump shots.

James probably goes through a practice's worth of shots as we walk from the XS nightclub at
Encore (James left his poolside table when he saw the club was practically empty), through
Wynn and over the bridge to the Palazzo.

Soon after arriving at Lavo, a restaurant and nightclub at the Palazzo, a scene straight out of
"West Side Story" breaks out when James and Lamar Odom, seated at a nearby table, engage
in an impromptu dance-off to California Swag District's "Teach Me How To Dougie."

Odom, smoking a cigar, can't quite keep up. James celebrates by crossing himself and taking a
shot of Patron. Moments later, a handful of girls dressed as cheerleaders walk toward his table
with someone dressed in James' Heat uniform. Someone throws talcum powder in the air as
James does before every game, while his new unofficial song, "I'm in Miami," plays.

Odom casts a glance James' way before looking in the opposite direction and raising his glass
at a couple on the dance floor who point to their ring fingers and smile.

Back at his table, James and his crew sing every word to Rick Ross' "Free Mason." LeBron raps
every line to former teammate Damon Jones (who played with him in Cleveland). Jones, puffing
on a cigar, nods.

James rips out the lines:

"If I ever die, never let it be said I didn't win/
Never, never say/
Never say legend didn't go in/
I just wanna die on top of the world."

While he looks at club-goers flashing the LA and Westside signs at him, James smiles and
points to Jackson's T-shirt, which reads, "Another Enemy," and raises his glass of champagne.
Finally, Carter tells James it's time to leave the club and they do, LeBron pretending to cross-
over tables and shoot over slot machines all the way back to his room.

R.I.P. Lorenzen Wright

Former NBA player Lorenzen Wright has been found dead almost a week after his mother reported him missing in Tennessee.
Wright's body was found in a wooded area off Winchester rd and Hacks Cross about 15 miles outside of Memphis on Wednesday. Police say the reports of Wright missing were conflicted when his father reported he was away in Europe on vacation after his mother reported him missing.
The Hooped Up website reports that eyewitnesses say that Wright, 34, appears to have died from a self inflicted gun shot wound. Germantown police have turned the 911 call reporting a body found, over to the Memphis police, who are investigating his death.
Wright was reportedly having financial problems, his house had been foreclosed on, according to the 48 Hour website.

Cavs Get Ramon Sessions

Two former Boston Celtics are on the move again. The Cleveland Cavaliers have reached an agreement to trade Delonte West and Sebastian Telfair to the Minnesota Timberwolves for guard Ramon Sessions and forward-center Ryan Hollins, according to Yahoo.
West played for the C’s for three seasons from 2004-07, before being traded to Seattle in the Ray Allen deal. Telfair’s only season in Boston was in 2006-07, and he was moved to the Timberwolves in the Kevin Garnett trade.
The T-Wolves are expected to waive West, who is only guaranteed to make $500,000 of his $4.7 million salary next season. Cleveland will also receive a second-round pick in the deal.

Colt McCoy Signs With The Browns

Just one day before rookies are due to report for training camp, the Cleveland Browns secured their potential quarterback of the future.

Third-round pick Colt McCoy agreed to a four-year deal Thursday worth up to $5 million, according to a league source; $1.07 million is guaranteed, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The normal slot is approximately $3.275 million. But McCoy got the "quarterback premium," which shows the faith Cleveland has in McCoy as its long-term solution at quarterback.

McCoy, 23, was a four-year starter at the University of Texas. Last season he threw for 3,521 yards and 27 touchdowns and completed 70.6 percent of his passes. McCoy is expected to begin training camp as the third quarterback behind Browns starter Jake Delhomme and veteran backup Seneca Wallace.

McCoy will move to Cleveland following his honeymoon in the Bahamas. McCoy married Rachel Glandorf in Austin on Saturday in a ceremony attended by 550 guests, including many former Longhorns coaches and teammates, as well as former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach, the Austin American-Statesman reported Tuesday.

LeBron LeBron LeBron=EGO EGO EGO

I Couldnt have Said it better MySelf...So, Shout out to Sport's Illustrated writer Michel Rosenberg...

LeBron James' free agency has been the ultimate sports story for the Twitter age: constant updates, very little new information. The league thinks he's going to Chicago! Pat Riley is angling for him! The Nets want him to have his own Russian province! The Knicks heard he loves pretzels that taste like soot!

The closer you get to the story, the harder it is to see: you focus on all the nuggets and whispers, the seeds that William "Worldwide" Wesley is planting in people's heads, and you lose sight of what really matters. But the big picture has never changed. LeBron James is desperate for adoration. It sounds like dime-store psychoanalysis, but how else can you explain a man holding a one-hour nationally televised special just so he can tell people where he will be?

As you try to figure out James' next piece of real estate, remember the three most important things: adoration, adoration, adoration.

And this is why I believe he will stay in Cleveland.

He did not need to become a free agent to stay in Cleveland, of course. He could have signed an extension a year ago. But, paradoxically, I think James will stay in Cleveland for the same reason he was determined to become a free agent: he needs that adoration.

James says his first priority is winning, but he isn't stupid -- he knows that is what he is supposed to say. He has talked about New York being his favorite city, and Brooklyn his favorite borough, but that mostly accomplished two things:

1. It got New York excited about him, and let's face it: New York was not going to get excited about him signing an extension with Cleveland a year before he became a free agent.

2. It made Cleveland scared to lose him, and let's face it: Cleveland was not going to create a frenzy around getting him to sign an extension a year before he became a free agent. Cleveland is a wonderful city, but it is also the city most likely to worry about losing its savior to New York or L.A. James, a native son, knows this as well as anybody. And he has used it to pump more adoration out of a city that has already given him plenty.

Does he really have the guts to dump his home team on national television? Even James must realize what a public relations disaster that would be.

If he joins Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami, he will never be the hero there that he is in Cleveland. If he goes to Chicago, he'll never be the hero that Michael Jordan was.

If James goes to New York, most of the country will never adore him; imagine the backlash if Jordan had gotten tired of Bill Cartwright and Stacey King and ditched Chicago to play with Patrick Ewing on the Knicks.

If James goes to New Jersey, he'll be building from scratch again, and the whole country will laugh. The man said winning was his first priority. How can he ditch a team that won 61 games for one that won 12?

In the end, James will do the right thing in the wrong way. He should have committed to Cleveland a year ago. He would have avoided the backlash that has already come his way, and he might have played that Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against Boston this spring with a clear mind and taken his team to the Finals.

But free agency was never a means to an end for James. It was an end unto itself. James, or the people around him, was convinced that he needed the whole world to hang on his future. He needed to let you know on Twitter, that "the Real King James is in the Building." But the real king was Michael Jordan, and he never needed to call himself king. As best as I can remember, Jordan never said he wanted to become a billionaire. He never hinted about getting out of Chicago so he could play with more talent. That's not to say that Jordan did not think of himself as the king -- he most certainly did. And his business aspirations were well-documented.

But Jordan had a different kind of ego. LeBron needs the adoration. Jordan needed to dominate. When Jordan ended his baseball career and returned to the NBA, he did not go on Larry King or feed speculation for months. He put out a two-word press release: "I'm back." He knew that was enough. He knew that what the world really wanted was Jordan on a basketball court, not Jordan in an hour-long TV special.

In so many ways, LeBron James should be a better player than Michael Jordan -- he is two inches taller and 35 pounds heavier, just about as explosive, a better shooter at this age and with better court vision. But if you could somehow suspend the laws of time and space and get the 25-year-old Jordan and the 25-year-old James on the same court, you would have to go with M.J., because he wouldn't worry about pregame theatrics or postgame speculation. He would spend every minute trying to rip James' heart out.

LeBron James got what he wanted: adoration, adoration, adoration. And maybe I'm wrong, but I really think Cleveland will get what it wants: another half-dozen years of LeBron James. It should be the perfect marriage. It's just too bad that James is such a shameless flirt.

They're Baaaaccckk!!!!!

It is official (as of now at least). The Cool Grey Air Jordan XI is set to return. A sneaker that created unnecessary madness during it's first release will be back for this Holiday season. The Cool Grey Air Jordan Retro XI is set to release on December 23rd for a retail of $175. We can assume that the $175 retail price will bring with it some type of special packaging a la the Space Jams at $175 retail last year. Stay tuned for more info as the release gets closer.

Amare signs with the Knicks for 5 years $100 million

NEW YORK -- The New York Knicks reached an agreement in principle Monday with free agent Amare Stoudemire after receiving assurances it would not be an impediment to their pursuit of LeBron James.

The All-Star forward will receive a five-year, $99.7 million contract that will reunite him with coach Mike D'Antoni.

By landing Amare Stoudemire, the Knicks now have more possibilities.

Stoudemire's agent, Happy Walters, said last week there was a "structure of an offer on the table," but no actual offer was put forth by the Knicks until they met with Stoudemire at Madison Square Garden on Monday afternoon. The deal cannot be signed until Thursday.

"The fact that Amare really wanted to come here and stepped up front, it got to the point that we had to acknowledge that," team president Donnie Walsh said. "That means something to us."

The Knicks believe they are still in the hunt for James (and, to a lesser degree, for Dwyane Wade), but Sunday night's news that James planned to delay making a decision until Wednesday or Thursday helped force their hand in regards to Stoudemire.

New York has been assured the Stoudemire agreement will not be an impediment to their chances of signing James or Wade, sources told ESPN.com, and the Knicks ultimately decided it might give them an advantage in the LeBron sweepstakes because James wanted the Cavs to acquire Stoudemire last February at the trading deadline.

"I feel great, really, about being a pioneer," said Stoudemire, who said he had spoken with James several times recently. "I think he feels great about it. It's a situation where no one wanted to make that first move, and I felt confident enough to take that first step, and hopefully now we can bring in a few guys to join us."

NBA free agent Amare Stoudemire introduces himself to the New York media and Knicks fans as he is prepared to sign a contract with the Knicks.

"I'm definitely going to reach out to him again and see if we can get him to come. I really have no reading on which way he is leaning at all, but again, he's totally open right now, he hasn't made a decision yet, and hopefully I can get him to choose us," Stoudemire said.

The agreement effectively removed the Knicks from the pursuit of Chris Bosh, and it significantly reduced the chances of David Lee returning to New York. The Knicks could still use Lee in a sign-and-trade deal if they miss out on James and Wade, but Lee could choose to take a five-year offer from another team between now and Thursday.

And between now and then, New York's management will remain cautiously optimistic that James will choose the Knicks, who spoke with James last Thursday, and with Wade and Bosh on Friday before having a second meeting with James' representatives on Saturday.

"I'm not sure where he's leaning. If he's leaning more toward New York, that would be a great start for us," Stoudemire said.

James has also received recruiting pitches from the Cavaliers, Bulls, Nets, Clippers and Heat.

"If somebody wants a real good basketball player to play with and win a title ... this could help get the dominoes falling," D'Antoni said.

Stoudemire arrived in New York on Saturday, head breakfast with D'Antoni on Sunday and met with team officials, including owner Jim Dolan, on Monday afternoon.

Stoudemire had spent his entire career in Phoenix, where he played under D'Antoni before the coach came to New York in 2008. Stoudemire averaged more than 20 points in every season they were together and immediately becomes the best player D'Antoni has coached since leaving the Suns after the 2007-08 season.

Stoudemire's days with the Suns ended late last week when the team agreed to $48 million worth of deals with forwards Hakim Warrick and Channing Frye. The sides had discussed an extension, but the Suns looked elsewhere after they'd reached a stalemate.

Stoudemire said he understood owner Robert Sarver's position and wasn't disrespected by the Suns refusal to give him a max deal that would have paid him millions more. He said he's always loved New York and wanted to play here since the Knicks passed on him in the 2002 draft.

Signs throughout the entrances to Madison Square Garden showed the player pictured in a Knicks uniform, wearing the No. 1, and marquee on the Seventh Avenue side of the building read "Welcome, Amare Stoudemire."

The Knicks desperately needed to come away with something in free agency after spending most of the last two years clearing enough salary-cap space to sign two maximum-contract players.

Jamarcus Russell busted for sippin syrup

MOBILE, Ala. -- Former Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell has been charged with possession of a controlled substance -- codeine syrup -- after being arrested at his home in Alabama on Monday, authorities said.

The 24-year-old former LSU star and the No. 1 draft choice in 2007 was arrested as part of an undercover narcotics investigation, said Mobile County Sheriff's spokeswoman Lori Myles. She would not say what led to his arrest. She said he did not have a prescription for the codeine.

Russell, who graduated from high school in Mobile, was booked into the city jail and released soon afterward on $2,500 bond, online records show.

The Raiders released Russell, considered one of the NFL's biggest draft busts, in May after he won only seven of his 25 starts and was benched. He completed just 52.1 percent of his passes in his career with 18 touchdowns, 23 interceptions, 15 lost fumbles and a passer rating of 65.2.

Oakland paid Russell about $36.4 million through the 2009 season. Since the start of the common draft in 1967, only one other No. 1 pick was released this quickly in his NFL career. Indianapolis cut 1992 top pick Steve Emtman after three seasons, but that was more because of injuries than production.

Russell and his agent did not immediately return calls for comment.
